Alajbegovic earned the nomination thanks to his stunning solo effort against Qatar. The 18-year-old dribbled past two defenders before unleashing a powerful strike from outside the penalty area to open the scoring in Bosnia and Herzegovina's crucial 3-1 victory, BBC reported.

FIFA has included Alajbegovic's strike among the standout goals of the tournament's group stage, with fans invited to vote for their favourite.

The shortlist also features goals scored by Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and several other stars who impressed during the opening phase of the tournament.

Alajbegovic's nomination is another major recognition for the young midfielder, whose performances at the World Cup have attracted widespread international attention.
